Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And cups put in place 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
