And a sign for them is the dead earth. We have brought it to life and brought forth from it grain, and from it they eat. 33 And We produce therein orchard with date-palms and vines, and We cause springs to gush forth therein: 34 that they might eat of its fruits. It was not their hands that made them. Will they not, then, give thanks? 35 Purity is to Him Who created all pairs, from what the earth grows, and of themselves, and from the things they do not know. 36 And a sign to them is the night: We draw forth from it the day, then lo! they are in the dark; 37 And the sun runneth to its appointed term: that is the disposition of the Mighty, the Knowing. 38 And the moon! For it We have decreed mansions till it reverteth like the old branch of a palm-tree. 39 It is not permitted to the sun that it should overtake the moon, nor can the night outstrip the day: each in an orbit, they float. 40 And a sign unto them is that We bear their offspring in a laden ship. 41 And We have created for them the like of it, what they will ride on. 42 And if We will, We drown them, and there is no help for them, neither can they be saved; 43 Except as a mercy from Us and provision for a time. 44 And when it is said to them: Guard against what is before you and what is behind you, that mercy may be had on you. 45 Not a Sign comes to them from among the Signs of their Lord, but they turn away therefrom. 46 And when it is said to them, “Spend in Allah’s cause, from what Allah has provided you”, the disbelievers say regarding the believers, “Shall we feed these, whom if Allah willed, would have fed? You are not but in open error!” 47 And they say: when will this promise be fulfilled if ye say sooth? 48 They await only but a single Saihah (shout, etc.), which will seize them while they are disputing! 49 then they will not be able to make any testament, nor will they return to their people. 50
