Thamud denied the warning 23 For they said: "A man! Alone from among us, that we are to follow? Truly, then we should be in error and distress or madness!" 24 Was he the one of all of us to have been given the exposition? He is surely an impudent liar." 25 Ah! they will know on the morrow, which is the liar, the insolent one! 26 “We shall send a she-camel to test them, therefore O Saleh, wait and have patience.” 27 And tell them that the water is to be divided between them: Each one's right to drink being brought forward (by suitable turns). 28 In response they called their companion – he therefore caught and hamstrung the she-camel. 29 Ah! how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 30 We sent a single blast against them, and they were reduced to husks of a decayed fence. 31 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition: is there then any one who would be admonished. 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warning. 33 Indeed We sent a shower of stones upon them, except the family of Lut; We rescued them before dawn. 34 as a blessing from Us: this is how We reward the thankful. 35 He had warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warnings. 36 And they indeed sought to shame his guest (by asking to commit sodomy with them). So We blinded their eyes, "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings." 37 And indeed, abiding suffering did befall them early on the morrow: 38 "So taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 39 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 40
