The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 that hide, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 The rising dawn, 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29

عند قراءة القرآن الملون في وضعية اللغة العربية المرسومة بالأحرف الإنجليزية، قد لا تلاحظ وجود منظومة برمجية مصممة لمطابقة متطلبات علامات الوقف في النص العربي الأصلي. فكما تعلم، يحتوي القرآن على خمسة أنواع رئيسية من علامات الوقف. (1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. (3) وقف جائز مع تساوي أولوية الوقف والوصل، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال النصف للنصف. (4) وقف جائز مع الوصل أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلث. (5) وقف المجاذبة أو المعانقة حيث يجب الوقف في أي من موضعين قريبين ولكن ليس كلاهما، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة تظهر في أحد الموقعين باحتمال النصف للنصف.
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
