۞ It is He who created you out of one living soul, and made of him his spouse that he might rest in her. Then, when he covered her, she bore a light burden and passed by with it; but when it became heavy they cried to God their Lord, 'If Thou givest us a righteous son, we indeed shall be of the thankful.' 189 But when He gives them a good one, they set up with Him associates in what He has given them; but high is Allah above what they associate (with Him). 190 Do they indeed ascribe to Him as partners things that can create nothing, but are themselves created? 191 Who can neither help them, nor help themselves? 192 And if you call them to guidance, they follow you not. It is the same for you whether you call them or you keep silent. 193 Verily, those whom you call upon besides Allah are slaves like you. So call upon them and let them answer you if you are truthful. 194 Do they have feet to walk with? Or have they hands to hold with? Or have they eyes to see with? Or have they ears to hear with? Say, “Call upon your ascribed partners and conspire against me, and do not give me respite.” 195 My Protector is God who sent down the Book, and He takes into His protection the righteous. 196 Those whom you call on besides Him have no power to help you, nor can they help themselves." 197 And if you invite them to guidance, they do not hear; and you see them looking towards you, yet they do not see. 198 Take what is given freely, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the ignorant. 199 If an evil impulse from Satan provokes you, seek refuge with God; He is all hearing, and all knowing. 200 When a satanic thought starts to bother the pious ones, they understand and see the light 201 But their brethren (the evil ones) plunge them deeper into error, and never relax (their efforts). 202 And yet, when thou [O Prophet] dost not produce any miracle for them, some [people] say: "Why dost thou not seek to obtain it [from God]? Say: "I only follow whatever is being revealed to me by my Sustainer: this [revelation] is a means of insight from your Sustainer, and a guidance and grace unto people who will believe. 203 Whenever the Quran is recited (to you), listen to it quietly so that you may receive mercy. 204 And remember your Lord by your tongue and within yourself, humbly and with fear without loudness in words in the mornings, and in the afternoons and be not of those who are neglectful. 205 [The angels] who are near to Your Lord, never turn away from His service out of arrogance; they rather glorify Him and prostrate themselves before Him. ۩ 206
