Let the dead earth be a Sign for them. We gave it life and produced from it grain whereof they eat. 33 And We place therein gardens of the date-palms and vines; and We therein cause to gush forth springs. 34 So that they may eat of the fruit thereof, and their hands made it not. Will they not, then, give thanks? 35 Limitless in His glory is He who has created opposites in whatever the earth produces, and in men's own selves, and in that of which [as yet] they have no knowledge. 36 And [of Our sway over all that exists] they have a sign in the night: We withdraw from it the [light of] day - and lo! they are in darkness. 37 And the sun -- it runs to a fixed resting-place; that is the ordaining of the All-mighty, the All-knowing. 38 how We ordained the moon to pass through certain phases until it seems eventually to be like a bent twig; 39 It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor doth the night outstrip the day. They float each in an orbit. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their seed in the laden ship, 41 And We made similar vessels for them to ride. 42 And if We please, We can drown them, then there shall be no succorer for them, nor shall they be rescued 43 except Our mercy which could enable them to enjoy themselves for an appointed time. 44 But when it is said to them, "Beware of what is before you and what is behind you; perhaps you will receive mercy... " 45 And whenever a sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord, they always turn away from it! 46 And when it is said unto them: Spend of that wherewith Allah hath provided you, those who disbelieve say unto those who believe: Shall we feed those whom Allah, if He willed, would feed? Ye are in naught else than error manifest. 47 They say: “When will this threat (of Resurrection) come to pass? Tell us if indeed you are truthful.” 48 They do not await except one blast which will seize them while they are disputing. 49 No (chance) will they then have, by will, to dispose (of their affairs), nor to return to their own people! 50
