۞ NOW WHENEVER [the nature of] the son of Mary is set forth as an example, [O Muhammad,] lo! thy people raise an outcry on this score, 57 And they say: Are our gods better, or is he? They do not set it forth to you save by way of disputation; nay, they are a contentious people. 58 He is only a servant We blessed, and We made him to be an example to the Children of Israel. 59 Had it been Our Will We would have made angels among you as successors in the earth. 60 He is certainly the sign of the Hour (of change). So have no doubt about it, and listen to me. This is the straight path. 61 And let not Shaitan (Satan) hinder you (from the right religion, i.e. Islamic Monotheism), Verily, he (Satan) to you is a plain enemy. 62 When Jesus came with the signs, he said: "I have come to you with authority, and to explain some thing about which you are at variance. So fear God, and follow me. 63 "Verily, God is my Sustainer as well as your Sustainer; so worship [none but] Him: this [alone] is a straight way!" 64 Then the sects differed among themselves. Woe then unto those who do Wrong because of the torment of an afflictive Day. 65 Are they waiting (for any thing) but the Hour (of Doom) which would descend upon them suddenly, and catch them unawares? 66 Friends on that day will be foes, one to another,- except the Righteous. 67
