The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And shade extended 30 and flowing water, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 and raised couches 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
