The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
