Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
