The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Praise belongs to God who has sent down upon His servant the Book and has not assigned unto it any crookedness; 1 right, to warn of great violence from Him, and to give good tidings unto the believers, who do righteous deeds, that theirs shall be a goodly wage 2 and they will live for ever therein. 3 and to warn those who say, 'God has taken to Himself a son'; 4 No knowledge whatever have they of Him, and neither had their forefathers: dreadful - is this saying that comes out of their mouths, [and] nothing but falsehood do they utter! 5 Haply thou art going to kill thyself over their footsteps, if they believe not in this discourse, out of sorrow. 6 We have adorned the earth with attractive things, so that We may test mankind as to which one is best in conduct, 7 In the ultimate, We shall reduce all that is on the earth to a barren plain. 8 Or dost thou reflect that the Companions of the Cave and of the Inscription were wonders among Our Sign? 9 When the youths sought refuge in the Cave, they said: 'Lord give us from Your Mercy and furnish us with rectitude in our affair' 10 Then We caused them to fall into a deep sleep for many years inside the cave. 11 Then We raised them up that We might know which of the two parties was best able to compute the time for which they remained. 12
