He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and fearfully, 9 You neglect. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 And olive and palm trees 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 wife and sons, 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
