The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER the sky full of great constellations, 1 and [then bethink thyself of] the promised Day, 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 Cursed were the companions of the trench 4 Fire supplied (abundantly) with fuel: 5 while they sat around it, 6 And they witnessed what they were doing against the believers (i.e. burning them). 7 They had nothing against them, except that they believed in Allah, the All-Mighty, Worthy of all Praise! 8 to whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and earth. And Allah is the Witness of all things. 9 Verily, as for those who persecute believing men and believing women, and thereafter do not repent, hell's suffering awaits them: yea, suffering through fire awaits them! 10 As for those who believed and acted righteously, theirs shall be Gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great triumph. 11 Indeed, the vengeance of your Lord is severe. 12 It is He who originates and repeats. 13 and He is the Forgiving and Loving One. 14 Lord of the Throne, the Glorious, 15 Doer of what He will. 16 Did the story of the armies reach you? 17 Of Pharaoh and Thamud come to you? 18 But they who disbelieve are in [persistent] denial, 19 But God surrounds them from all sides. 20 Nay, but this [divine writ which they reject] is a discourse sublime, 21 that exists in a well-guarded tablet. 22
