The unbelieving assembly of his nation, who belied the encounter of the Everlasting Life, and on whom We had bestowed ease in this life, said: 'This is but a human like yourselves; he eats of what you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 "If you were to obey a human being like yourselves, then verily! You indeed would be losers. 34 "Does he promise that when ye die and become dust and bones, ye shall be brought forth (again)? 35 ۞ Away! away with that wherewith ye are promised; 36 There is nought but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we are not going to be raised up. 37 He is not but a man who has invented a lie about Allah, and we will not believe him." 38 He said: O my Lord! help me against their calling me a liar. 39 He answered: "A short while, and they shall be repenting." 40 So the punishment overtook them in justice, and We made them as rubbish; so away with the unjust people. 41 After them We brought another generation into existence. 42 No people can hasten their term, nor can they delay (it). 43 Then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time there came to a nation its messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another [to destruction], and We made them narrations. So away with a people who do not believe. 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear authority 45 unto Pharaoh and his Council; but they waxed proud, and they were a lofty people, 46 And so they said: "Shall we believe [them] two mortals like ourselves - although their people are our slaves?" 47 Thus, they gave the lie to those two, and earned (thereby) their place among the doomed: 48 And We gave Moses the Book that people might be guided by it. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a portent, and We gave them refuge on a height, a place of flocks and watersprings. 50
