The people of 'Ad accused the messengers of lies. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 124 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 125 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 126 For this I ask of you no wage, for my wage falls only on the Lord of the Worlds. 127 You construct monuments on every hill in vain, 128 And seek ye out strongholds, that haply ye may last for ever? 129 When you lay hands upon anyone, you do so as tyrants. 130 “Therefore fear Allah, and obey me.” 131 And be careful of (your duty to) Him Who has given you abundance of what you know. 132 He has given you abundance of cattle and children 133 and with gardens and springs. 134 "Truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Great Day." 135 They said, “It is the same for us, whether you advise us or not be of the preachers.” 136 this is nothing but the habit of the ancients, 137 and we shall not be chastised.' 138 And they belied him; so We destroyed them. Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
