He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and fearfully, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 On honourable pages. 13 lofty and pure, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 laughing and joyous 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
