Also recount the story of Abraham in the Book. He was a man of truth, and a prophet. 41 Recall what time he said unto his father: O my father! wherefore worshippest thou that which heareth not and seeth not, nor availeth thee at all? 42 Father, there has come to me knowledge such as came not to thee; so follow me, and I will guide thee on a level path. 43 Father, do not serve Satan, for Satan has indeed been a persistent rebel against the Most Compassionate Lord. 44 O my father, indeed I fear that there will touch you a punishment from the Most Merciful so you would be to Satan a companion [in Hellfire]." 45 (The father) replied: "Dost thou hate my gods, O Abraham? If thou forbear not, I will indeed stone thee: Now get away from me for a good long while!" 46 [Abraham] replied: "Peace be upon thee! I shall ask my Sustainer to forgive thee: for, behold, He has always been kind unto me. 47 I shall withdraw from you and all that you call upon beside Allah. I shall only call upon my Lord. I trust the prayer to my Lord will not go unanswered." 48 So when he had left them and those they worshipped other than Allah, We gave him Isaac and Jacob, and each [of them] We made a prophet. 49 We granted them Our blessing and high renown. 50
