The people of Lot accused the messengers of lies. 160 When their brother Lot said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 161 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 162 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 163 I do not ask any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 164 "Go you in unto the males of the 'Alamin (mankind), 165 And leave ye your spouses your Lord hath created for you? Aye! ye are a people trespassing. 166 They said: if thou desistest not, O Lut! thou shalt surely be of those driven forth. 167 He said, "I certainly hate what you practice. 168 (And prayed:) "O Lord, save me and my family from what they do." 169 So We delivered him and his followers all, 170 except an old woman who remained behind. 171 Then We destroyed the rest of them, 172 and rained down upon them a rain [of destruction]: and dire is such rain upon all who let themselves be warned [to no avail]! 173 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 174 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
