Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HA MIM. 1 By the Scripture which maketh plain, 2 Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that you might understand. 3 And verily it is, in the Original Book before Us, indeed exalted. 4 Should We divert this Good Counsel from you because you are a people immersed in extravagance? 5 But how many were the prophets We sent amongst the peoples of old? 6 And never came there a prophet to them but they mocked him. 7 Wherefore We destroyed peoples mightier than these in prowess; and there hath gone forth the example of the ancients. 8 If you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?", they will surely answer, "The Almighty, the All Knowing One has created them." 9 He Who made the earth a resting-place for you, and made in it ways for you that you may go aright; 10 It is He who sends water down from the sky in due measure, We revive dead land with it and likewise you will be resurrected from the grave, 11 And He it is who has created all opposites. And He [it is who] has provided for you all those ships and animals whereon you ride, 12 so that you can sit upon their backs and then remember the Favors of your Lord and say: 'Exaltations to Him who has subjected these to us otherwise, we ourselves were not capable of it, 13 Hence, verily, it is unto Him that we must always turn." 14 The pagans have considered some of His servants as His children. There is no doubt that the human being is simply ungrateful. 15
