The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Mount (Sinai), 1 And by the Book Inscribed. 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 by the high ceiling (heaven), 5 and by the swelling sea: 6 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 “This is the fire, which you used to deny!” 14 Is it magic or do you not still see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink). 23 ۞ And they will be waited upon by [immortal] youths, [as if they were children] of their own, [as pure] as if they were pearls hidden in their shells. 24 And they will advance unto each other asking questions. 25 Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families: 26 but Allah has been gracious to us and has protected us from the punishment of the burning wind. 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
