Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In a high Garden. 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 Goblets set, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
