The people of Lut denied the Noble Messengers. 160 When their brother Lut said unto them: fear ye not? 161 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 162 Have fear of God and obey me. 163 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 164 What! do you come to the males from among the creatures 165 and leave your wives whom your Lord has created for you? No, but you are a transgressing nation' 166 They said, "Lot, if you do not give up preaching, you will certainly be expelled (from this town)". 167 He said: "I am, indeed, of those who disapprove with severe anger and fury your (this evil) action (of sodomy). 168 (And prayed:) "O Lord, save me and my family from what they do." 169 So We delivered him and his people all together, 170 Except an old woman among those who remained behind. 171 But the rest We destroyed utterly. 172 And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned. 173 Surely in this there is a sign: but most of them would not believe: 174 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
