The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
