The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise, and warn. 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 And your garments purify! 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 And sons present by his side. 13 and to whose life I gave so wide a scope: 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 Behold, [when Our messages are conveyed to one who is bent on denying the truth,] he reflects and meditates [as to how to disprove them] 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 He looked (at others); 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
