The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the great event, 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
