Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the dawn 1 by the Ten Nights, 2 Consider the multiple and the One! 3 And the night when it departs. 4 is there not in this strong evidence for a man of sense? 5 Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with Ad, 6 Of the (city of) Iram, with lofty pillars, 7 The like of which were not created in the (other) cities; 8 And (with) Samood, who hewed out the rocks in the valley, 9 And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? - 10 Who (all) were rebellious (to Allah) in these lands, 11 and worked much corruption therein? 12 Wherefore thy Lord poured on them the scourge of His torment. 13 For thy Lord is (as a Guardian) on a watch-tower. 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him, through honour and blessings, he says, "My Lord has honoured me," 15 But when He tests him by straitening his sustenance, he says: “My Lord has humiliated me.” 16 Not at all – but rather you do not honour the orphan. 17 Nor do you urge one another to feed the poor, 18 And devour the inheritance devouring greedily, 19 and why do you have an excessive love of riches? 20 But no; when the earth is ground to powder, 21 And thy Lord shall come with angels, rank on rank, 22 and when Hell is brought near that Day. On that Day will man understand, but of what avail will that understanding be? 23 He will say: 'Would that I had forwarded (good works) for my life!' 24 None punisheth as He will punish on that day! 25 and Allah will bind as none other can bind. 26 Serene soul, 27 Return to your Lord, well-pleased (with him), well-pleasing (Him), 28 So enter among My servants, 29 and enter My Paradise.” 30
