A multitude of those of old 39 And a numerous company from among the last. 40 As for the People on the Left: how miserable will be the People on the Left! 41 They will live amid the scorching, 42 and the shadows of black smoke 43 Neither cool nor honorable. 44 They had been affluent before, 45 And were stubborn upon the great sin (of disbelief). 46 It was they who said, "Shall we be resurrected after we die and have turned into dust and bones? 47 “And also our forefathers?” 48 Proclaim, “Without doubt all – the former and the latter.” 49 shall be gathered together to the appointed time on a known Day' 50 "Then will ye truly,- O ye that go wrong, and treat (Truth) as Falsehood!- 51 Most surely eat of a tree of Zaqqoom, 52 and fill your bellies with it, 53 and drink on top of that boiling water 54 lapping it down like thirsty camels.' 55 That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense. 56 We created you, why will you not believe! 57 Have you considered the seed you spill? 58 Do you create it, or We are its creator? 59 We have destined death for you and no one can challenge Us 60 from changing your Forms and creating you (again) in (forms) that ye know not. 61 And ye certainly know already the first form of creation: why then do ye not celebrate His praises? 62 So what is your opinion regarding what you sow? 63 Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer? 64 If We pleased, We should have certainly made it broken down into pieces, then would you begin to lament: 65 crying, "We have been left to suffer loss. 66 Nay, but we are deprived! 67 Consider the water that you drink. 68 Is it you who sent it down from the clouds or is it We who have sent it down? 69 If We had so pleased, We could have made it bitter. So why would you not give thanks? 70 Tell Me! The fire which you kindle, 71 Did you make its tree grow or was it We Who made it grow? 72 It is We who have made it as a reminder and a means of comfort for the people. 73 Extol, then, the limitless glory of thy Sustainer's mighty name! 74
