(Muhammad), remind them, by the Grace of your Lord, that you are neither a soothsayer or an insane person. 29 Do they say: "He is a poet for whom we expect an adverse turn of fortune?" 30 Say: 'Wait if you will; I shall be waiting with you' 31 is it their minds that prompt them [to say] this, or are they merely insolent people? 32 Or do they say, "He fabricated the (Message)"? Nay, they have no faith! 33 Let them produce a phrase like it, if what they say is true! 34 Did they come into being without any creator? Or were they their own creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they are not certain. 36 Do they own the treasures of your Lord? Have they any authority over God? 37 Or have they a ladder whereon they listen? Then let any of them that has listened bring a clear authority. 38 Do the daughters belong to Him and the sons to you? 39 Do you (Muhammad) ask them for any payment (for your preaching) which they cannot afford? 40 Or have they the unseen so that they write (it) down? 41 Or do they desire a war? But those who disbelieve shall be the vanquished ones in war. 42 Have they, then, any deity other than God? Utterly remote is God, in His limitless glory, from anything to which men may ascribe a share in His divinity! 43 And were they to see a portion of the sky falling, they will say, “It is a heap of clouds.” 44 Wherefore let them alone, till they meet their Day whereon they shall swoon. 45 A day in which their guile will naught avail them, nor will they be helped. 46 And there surely awaits the evildoers a chastisement beyond even that, but most of them know it not. 47 And be thou patient under the judgment of thy Lord; surely thou art before Our eyes. And proclaim the praise of thy Lord when thou arisest, 48 And in the night also hallow Him, and at the setting of the stars. 49
