Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 Except the Companions of the Right Hand. 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 From the guilty. 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 until certainty came upon us [in death]." 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 running away from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
