Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 labouring, weary, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
