The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the sun and its noon-time brightness, 1 and by the moon as it follows it; 2 and by the day as it reveals its glory 3 And by the night as it conceals it (the sun); 4 And the heaven and Him Who built it, 5 by the earth and Who spread it, 6 By the soul, and That which shaped it 7 And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. 8 those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness 9 And he will indeed fail who corrupts it. 10 In their presumptuous insolence the Thamud called the Truth a lie 11 Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety). 12 But the Messenger of Allah said to them: "It is a She-camel of Allah! And (bar her not from) having her drink!" 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 He did not fear the consequences. 15
