The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the star when it goes down, (or vanishes). 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he misguided, 2 Neither does he speak of his own will. 3 It is but a revelation revealed. 4 Taught to him by one intense in strength - 5 and endowed with wisdom; who in time manifested himself; 6 While he was in the highest part of the horizon: 7 He (Gabriel) then came nearer and nearer. 8 until he was but two bow-lengths away, or even nearer. 9 so (Allah) revealed to His worshiper (Gabriel) that which he revealed (to Prophet Muhammad). 10 His heart did not lie of what he saw. 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 Indeed he saw him a second time, 13 by the Lote-Tree of the Boundary 14 nigh which is the Garden of the Refuge, 15 When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it]. 16 The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit]. 17 and he certainly saw some of the greatest Signs of His Lord. 18 (Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third - the other one? 20 What! for you the males and for Him the females! 21 That were indeed an unjust division. 22 They are but names which you have named, you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow but a guess and that which they themselves desire, whereas there has surely come to them the Guidance from their Lord! 23 Or shall man have what he coveteth? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
