We saved the Children of Israel from their humiliating torment 30 from Pharaoh, who ranked high in sin, 31 We knowingly exalted them (i.e., the Children of Israel) above other peoples of the world 32 and bestowed upon them the Signs wherein lay an evident test for them. 33 Lo! these, forsooth, are saying: 34 There is naught but our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 Then bring [back] our forefathers, if you should be truthful." 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them, [for] indeed, they were criminals. 37 And We did not create the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, just for play. 38 We created them not except for just ends: but most of them do not understand. 39 Truly, the Day of Decision is the appointed time for all of them, 40 the day a master shall avail nothing a client, and they shall not be helped, 41 save those upon whom God will have bestowed His grace and mercy: for, verily, He alone is almighty, a dispenser of grace. 42
