Have you heard the story of the honorable guests of Abraham? 24 When they entered upon him, they said: Peace. Peace, said he, a strange people. 25 Then he turned quietly to his household, and brought forth a fat [roasted] calf, 26 and he laid it before them saying, 'Will you not eat?' 27 (When they did not eat), He conceived a fear of them. They said, "Fear not," and they gave him glad tidings of a son endowed with knowledge. 28 And his wife approached with a cry [of alarm] and struck her face and said, "[I am] a barren old woman!" 29 They said, “This is how your Lord has decreed; indeed He only is the Wise, the All Knowing.” 30 ۞ He said: what then is your errand! O ye sent ones! 31 They said, 'We have been sent to a people of sinners, 32 to bring down upon them showers of marked lumps of clayy. 33 marked with thy Lord for the prodigal. 34 Then We evacuated those of the Believers who were there, 35 But We found there but one house of those surrendered (to Allah). 36 and We left therein a sign for those who fear a painful punishment. 37 In Moses, too, (there were signs). We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority, 38 but he turned his back with his Assembly, saying: 'He is (either) a sorcerer or a mad man' 39 We therefore seized him and his army and threw them into the sea, while he was blaming himself. 40 And also in Ad, when We loosed against them the withering wind 41 and it destroyed everything over which it passed and reduced it to dust. 42 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Thamud. They were told: “Enjoy yourselves for a while.” 43 after they had turned with disdain from their Sustainer's commandment - whereupon the thunderbolt of punishment overtook them while they were [helplessly] looking on: 44 And neither stand up nor defend themselves. 45 [We destroyed] the people of Noah before them. They were certainly a sinful people. 46
