The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
