When the messengers came to Lot and his family, 61 He said: Surely you are an unknown people. 62 "We have come to you with news," they said, "of what your people doubt; 63 and we have come to you with the truth, and surely we are truthful, 64 "So leave with your family late in the night, yourself remaining in the rear, and let none turn back to look, and go where you will be commanded." 65 We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 He said: 'These are my guests; do not shame me. 68 "And do not disgrace me. Have some fear of God." 69 They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? 70 [Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, 73 and turned the land upside down, and rained down stones of baked clay. 74 Herein are really signs for those who discern. 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 Behold! in this is a sign for those who believed. 77 Certainly the dwellers in the Thicket were evildoers, 78 and so We inflicted Our retribution on them. And behold, both these [sinful communities] lived by a highway, [to this day] plain to see 79
