And [every time] the great ones among his people, who refused to acknowledge the truth and gave the lie to the announcement of a life to come - [simply] because We had granted them ease and plenty in [their] worldly life, and they had become corrupted by it [every time] they would say: "This [man] is nothing hut a mortal like yourselves, eating of what you eat, and drinking of what you drink: 33 and, indeed, if you pay heed to a mortal like yourselves, you will surely be the losers! 34 Does he give you a promise that when you are dead and turned to dust and bones, you will be raised to life again? 35 ۞ Far-fetched, utterly far-fetched is what you are being promised. 36 There exists only our present life: we die and we live [but once], and shall never be raised up again. 37 He is naught but a man who has forged against God a lie, and we will not believe him.' 38 He said: My Lord! Help me because they deny me. 39 He said: In a little while they will most certainly be repenting. 40 And the Cry seized them justly, and We made them as scum; so away with the people of the evildoers! 41 Thereafter, after them, We produced other generations; 42 No people can hasten on their doom nor can they postpone (it). 43 And We sent forth Our apostles, one after another: [and] every time their apostle came to a community, they gave him the lie: and so We caused them to follow one another [into the grave,] and let them become [mere] tales: and so - away with the folk who would not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our Signs and a clear authority 45 To Firon and his chiefs, but they behaved haughtily and they were an insolent people. 46 They said, "Should we believe in two mere mortals who are like ourselves and whose people are our slaves?" 47 So they rejected them, calling them liars, and they too eventually became of those that were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book that people might be guided by it. 49 and We made Mary's son, and his mother, to be a sign, and gave them refuge upon a height, where was a hollow and a spring: 50
