The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and banana trees, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 and waters gushing, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And couches raised up. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
