The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 Yet if they see a sign they turn away, and they say 'A continuous sorcery!' 2 And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 So (O Muhammad SAW) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing. 6 with down-cast eyes they shall go forth from their graves, as though they were scattered locusts. 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 She floats under our eyes (and care): a recompense to one who had been rejected (with scorn)! 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 16 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 17 The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 21 We have made the Qur'an easy to derive lessons from. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 22
