The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 By the day when it appeareth in glory, 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 who belied and turned away, 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- 20 He verily will be content. 21
