And Noah verily prayed unto Us, and gracious was the Hearer of his prayer 75 for We saved him and his household from that awesome calamity, 76 and caused his offspring to endure [on earth]; 77 and left for him among the later folk 78 Salamun (peace) be upon Nuh (Noah) (from Us) among the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)!" 79 Thus do We reward all those who do good. 80 He was one of Our believing servants. 81 We drowned the rest. 82 ۞ Abraham was of the same faith: 83 When he came unto his Lord with a whole heart; 84 when he said to his father and his folk, 'What do you serve? 85 Is it falsehood [as] gods other than Allah you desire? 86 What do you think of the Lord of the whole Universe?” 87 Then he cast a glance at the stars, 88 Then said: Lo! I feel sick! 89 So they turned away from him, and departed (for fear of the disease). 90 Then he turned to their gods and said, "Do you not eat? 91 "What is the matter with you that you speak not?" 92 He then began striking them with his right hand, unseen by the people. 93 So they (people) advanced towards him, hastening. 94 Abraham said to them: “Do you worship what you yourselves have carved with your own hands 95 when it is Allah who created you and all that you do' 96 They exclaimed: "Build a pyre for him, and cast him into the blazing fire!" 97 So they tried to execute their evil scheme upon him – We therefore degraded them. (Allah saved him, by commanding the fire to turn cool). 98 He said, "I will go to my Lord: He is sure to guide me. 99 "My Lord! Grant me (offspring) from the righteous." 100 (In response to this prayer) We gave him the good news of a prudent boy; 101 And when he attained to working with him, he said: O my son! surely I have seen in a dream that I should sacrifice you; consider then what you see. He said: O my father! do what you are commanded; if Allah please, you will find me of the patient ones. 102 Then (remember) when they both submitted to Allah’s command, and Ibrahim lay his son facing downwards. (The knife did not hurt Ismail) 103 We cried unto him: O Ibrahim 104 you have fulfilled the dream." It is thus indeed that We reward those who do good, 105 for, behold, all this was indeed a trial, clear in itself. 106 And We rescued him in exchange of a great sacrifice. (The sacrifice of Ibrahim and Ismail – peace be upon them – is commemorated every year on 10, 11 and 12 Zil Haj). 107 and left him thus to be remembered among later generations: 108 'Peace be upon Abraham' 109 Thus do We reward the good-doers. 110 he was among Our believing servants. 111 And We gave him the good news of Isaac - a prophet,- one of the Righteous. 112 and We blessed him and Isaac, and from their offspring are some gooddoers, and others who clearly wronged themselves. 113
