Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
O thou wrapped up in thy raiment! 1 Stand up for worship during the night, except for some part of it. 2 of one-half thereof - or make it a little less than that, 3 Or add to it, and recite the Qur'an with measured recitation. 4 For We are about to send down to you a message of considerable gravity. 5 Surely the rising by night is the firmest way to tread and the best corrective of speech. 6 surely in the day thou hast long business. 7 But keep in remembrance the name of thy Lord and devote thyself to Him whole-heartedly. 8 (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. 9 Bear with patience what they say, and gracefully come away from them. 10 And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little. 11 Verily, with Us are fetters (to bind them), and a raging Fire. 12 food that chokes and painful punishment 13 On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. 14 We have sent to you, (O men!) a messenger, to be a witness concerning you, even as We sent a messenger to Pharaoh. 15 But Pharoah rebelled against the messenger, so We seized him with a strong, crushing grip. 16 If you persist in denying the truth how will you escape the Day that will turn the children's hair grey. 17 The heavens itself will be rent asunder (on that day). His promise is bound to be fulfilled. 18 This, verily, is a reminder: let him who wills, then set out on a way to his Sustainer! 19
