He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 to a rich man, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and in awe of God 9 From him you are distracted. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 and olives and palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
