۞ But We shall say, "Assemble those who did wrong together with their associates and what they worshipped 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 [They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?" 25 In fact, on that day they will be submissive. 26 And they will turn to one another, and question one another. 27 Some [of them] will say: "Behold, you were wont to approach us [deceptively] from the right!" 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 We had no power over you. You were a rebellious people, 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 Thus we misled you. Lo! we were (ourselves) astray. 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence, 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 "Surely, he has brought the truth, confirming those who were sent before; 37 Behold, you will indeed taste grievous suffering [in the life to come,] 38 and be rewarded only according to your deeds." 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 will have their determined sustenance 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 in the Gardens of Bliss, 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 Round shall be passed a cup unto them filled with limpid drink: 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 and with them wide-eyed maidens restraining their glances 48 Like sheltered eggs in a nest. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 after we die and become dust and bones, we shall be brought to judgement?'" 53 [And] he adds: "Would you like to look [and see him]?" 54 He will look down and see him in hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 But then, [O my friends in paradise,] is it [really] so that we are not to die 58 except for our first death? And shall we suffer no chastisement?'” 59 This will indeed be great happiness. 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust. 63 Indeed it is a tree that sprouts from the base of hell. 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils); 65 and they eat of it, and of it fill their bellies, 66 Then most surely they shall have after it to drink of a mixture prepared in boiling water. 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 for, behold, they found their forebears on a wrong way, 69 So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps. 70 Before them erred most of the ancients, 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 So behold what wise hath been the end of those who were warned. 73 except the sincere worshipers of Allah. 74
