These (people of the right hand) consist of many from the ancient 39 And a multitude of those of later time. 40 But those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) those of the left hand -- 41 In hot wind and boiling water, 42 And in the shades of Black Smoke: 43 Nothing (will there be) to refresh, nor to please: 44 They were endowed with good things 45 and would persist in heinous sinning, 46 And they used to say: "When we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be resurrected? 47 We and our fathers of old? 48 (Muhammad), say, "All the ancient and later generations 49 "All will surely be gathered together for appointed Meeting of a known Day. 50 "Then moreover, verily, you the erring-ones, the deniers (of Resurrection)! 51 Most surely eat of a tree of Zaqqoom, 52 "Then will ye fill your insides therewith, 53 Then drink over it of boiling water; 54 "Indeed ye shall drink like diseased camels raging with thirst!" 55 This is their entertainment on the day of requital. 56 We have created you: why then do you not accept the truth? 57 Have ye seen that which ye emit? 58 Is it ye who create it, or are We the Creators? 59 We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone 60 That We may transfigure you and make you what ye know not. 61 You certainly knew about (your) first development. Why do you not take heed? 62 Have ye seen that which ye cultivate? 63 Is it you or We Who make them grow? 64 [For,] were it Our will, We could indeed turn it into chaff, and you would be left to wonder [and to lament,] 65 "Verily, we are ruined! 66 nay, we have been robbed!' 67 See ye the water which ye drink? 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds, or are We the senders? 69 Did We will, We would make it bitter; so why are you not thankful? 70 So what is your opinion regarding the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer? 72 We have made it a reminder and an advantage for the wayfarers of the desert. 73 Glorify, then, (O Prophet), the name of your Great Lord. 74
