The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 And your clothing purify 4 and defilement flee! 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); 8 That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 And children to be by his side! 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 He planned and plotted. 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then he thought; 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
