He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and fearfully, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 exalted and purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble and pious. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 and olives, and palms, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
