The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
There was certainly a time when there was no mention of the human being. 1 Verily We created man from a sperm yoked (to the ovum) to bring out his real substance, then gave him hearing and sight. 2 Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur, 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah drink, making it gush forth abundantly, 6 They (are those who) fulfill (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil will be wide-spreading. 7 They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, 8 (saying): “We feed you only for Allah's sake; we do not seek of you any recompense or thanks, 9 "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." 10 Therefor Allah hath warded off from them the evil of that day, and hath made them find brightness and joy; 11 And their recompense shall be Paradise, and silken garments, because they were patient. 12 [They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold. 13 near them shall be its shades, and its clusters hung meekly down, 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal, 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes. 16 And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. 18 ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. 19 And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and thick silk interwoven with gold, and they shall be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall make them drink a pure drink. 21 Verily this is for you by way of recompense, and your endeavour hath been accepted. 22
