The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 and those that blow gently, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
