A crowd of earlier generations 39 And a multitude from the later generations. 40 And the fellows on the left hand; how miserable shall the fellows on the left hand be! 41 mid burning winds and boiling waters 42 in the shadow of a smoking blaze, 43 neither cool nor refreshing. 44 Verily they have been heretofore affluent. 45 and would persist in heinous sinning, 46 And said: "What! When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we then be raised again? 47 And also our forefathers?" 48 Say: "Yea, those of old and those of later times, 49 "All will surely be gathered together for appointed Meeting of a known Day. 50 Then you went astray, you that belied, 51 Ye verily will eat of a tree called Zaqqum 52 and fill your bellies with it, 53 "And drink Boiling Water on top of it: 54 drinking it as thirsty camels do.” 55 This shall be their entertainment on the Day of Requital. 56 It is He who created you, then why do you not affirm the truth? 57 Have ye seen that which ye emit? 58 did you create it or did We? 59 We have decreed among you Death; We shall not be outstripped; 60 In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know. 61 You have known the first growth; so why will you not remember? 62 And have you seen that [seed] which you sow? 63 Do you make it grow or is it We who make it grow? 64 We could turn it, if We pleased, into straw; then you would rue the day, 65 (And say:) "We have fallen into debt; 66 Rather, we have been prevented' 67 So what is your opinion regarding the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who caused it to descend from the cloud, or is it We Who cause it to descend? 69 Were it Our Will, We could make it salt (and unpalatable): then why do ye not give thanks? 70 Have ye observed the fire which ye strike out; 71 Was it ye who made the tree thereof to grow, or were We the grower? 72 We have made it as a reminder and convenience for the needy. 73 Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74
